Ike Uri's January Blog

2012 will be an important year. The debt crisis in the Eurozone and the United States may be resolved, the United States will be less involved in the Middle East, and a new James Bond movie will be coming out. However, this year’s presidential election is possibly the most important event that will occur. This will determine how America, and the world, will be led for the next four years.
The Democratic Party is set for the election. President Obama will not be opposed for the party’s candidacy. However, the Republican Party is currently a mess.  Seven candidates are still running. These range from the level-headed Jon Huntsman, the former ambassador to China, to Rick Santorum, who had a very entertaining term named after him (don’t Google it). Currently, the battle is between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. These two men both have skeletons in the closet; they have supported liberal ideologies that could cost them both the candidacy.  This race will be very interesting to watch play out. The candidate may determine the future of our society.
